Associates in Ophthalmology, PC
To Our Beloved and Valued Patients,
We are OPEN!
Drs. Hart, Sygiel, Shepherd and the entire staff at Associates in Ophthalmology are excited to begin the process of reopening our practice. We have established a protocol for patient care with an emphasis on a safe, clean environment, prompt visits, and personal protection.
We will prioritize the following conditions:
- Loss of vision
- Glaucoma patients
- Sudden change in vision
- Red/inflamed eyes
- Suspected infection
- Eye pain
Please review our new protocol for your visit as it is now significantly different than “traditional” office operations:
Scheduling: When calling to schedule a visit, you will be asked the following screening questions related to COVID-19 exposure or symptoms:
Exposure to COVID-19?
- Sore throat?
- Loss of taste or smell?
Before you leave home: All patients must arrive wearing a mask or face covering. You will not be seen without it.
Arrival at parking lot: Stay in your vehicle! Call our front desk (248-855-1020) from your vehicle to notify us of your arrival. You will be invited in or asked to remain in the parking lot until your exam room has been prepared. Absolutely no visitors or companions will be permitted to accompany the patient into the office.
Arrival at office: We will review the screening questions, have you attest to your responses, and document your temperature. If you have a fever or at-risk responses to the screening questions, you will be referred to Urgent Care or your primary care physician for further evaluation.
Exam protocol: You will be escorted to an exam room which has been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. You will remain in that room throughout your visit; you will not be sent to our waiting room to dilate. We will always maintain a vacant waiting room to minimize your exposure to others throughout your visit. Expect your visit to be problem-focused and timely.
Please know that we are thoroughly and continuously sanitizing our office to provide a clean environment for our patients requiring visits; your health and that of our incredible staff is our greatest priority.
Thank you all for your patience and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
